In order to be eligible for an award of compensation you must:
- Have sustained an injury as the result of violence in Great Britain on or after 1 August 1964 – the offender does not necessarily need to have been caught
- Applied to the CICA with two years of the occurrence of the injury
- The correct application form must be completed and by signing the form you give the CICA consent to obtain records relevant to the incident, injuries and your benefits and earnings entitlement
- One injury must have been suffered with for at least six weeks
- Seen as doctor for at least one of the injuries
