Debbie Milne
Debbie leads our Personal Injury team, bringing three decades of specialist experience to clients across Scotland. She acts for individuals of all ages who have suffered injury, guiding them through the legal process with clarity, compassion and unwavering commitment to achieving the compensation they deserve.
Debbie’s expertise spans catastrophic injury, employers’ liability and medical negligence claims. She conducts cases in the Court of Session, the All Scotland Personal Injury Court and Sheriff Courts nationwide. As a Solicitor-Advocate with extended Rights of Audience in the Court of Session, a Writer to the Signet, and a Law Society of Scotland Accredited Lawyer for Children, she brings a highly regarded depth of knowledge to complex personal injury matters. Debbie is consistently recognised as a leading individual by The Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners.
Debbie qualified as a solicitor in 1996 after completing a two-year traineeship dedicated to personal injury law. She has since worked within both specialist personal injury practices and major commercial firms, acting for pursuers and defenders alike. This dual perspective gives her a balanced, strategic approach to litigation and client advice.
Over her career, Debbie has handled the full spectrum of personal injury claims, including motor accidents, industrial disease, employers’ liability, public liability and clinical negligence. She became an Associate in 2002, a Solicitor-Advocate (civil) in 2005 and a Partner in 2008.
Meya Phiri

Meya is a part-time Solicitor at DJ McKay Solicitors/Unionline Scotland, acting for individuals across Scotland who have suffered personal injury. Her caseload spans road traffic accidents, employer liability and public liability claims, which she manages from first instruction through to successful resolution. Meya delivers clear, empathetic and down-to-earth legal support, offering both strategic guidance and genuine human understanding during what is often a difficult time for her clients.
Her approach emphasises communication, accessibility and compassion—qualities reflected in the positive Trustpilot and Google reviews she has received for client care and successful outcomes. Meya is committed to ensuring her clients feel informed, supported and empowered throughout their legal journey.
Alongside her legal practice, Meya serves as a committee member of the Law Society of Scotland’s Equality and Diversity Committee, contributing to the development of inclusive policies across the profession. She has also been featured by the Law Society for her advocacy on flexible working in the legal sector and for her reflections on ethics and faith within legal practice. These contributions highlight her dedication to promoting fairness, integrity and people-first values both inside and outside the courtroom.
Meya studied in the UK, Illinois (USA) and Toronto (Canada), bringing an international academic background to her legal practice. She qualified as a solicitor in May 2015. Her professional experience includes roles with RAC Legal, NFU Mutual and Oakwood Scotland Solicitors, where she gained broad expertise in personal injury litigation. She is also an Affiliate of the Society of Writers to the Signet (Aff WS).

Joanne qualified as a solicitor in 2011 and has since worked exclusively in personal injury law, developing extensive experience in handling a range of claims and supporting clients through both negotiation and litigation.
Aimée Elder

Aimée Elder
Aimée Elder is a Solicitor within the Accident Team, now expanding her expertise to Disease claims. She manages a varied caseload, providing clients with practical and supportive legal guidance throughout the claims process. Aimée also supervises one of the firm’s Trainee Solicitors, ensuring high standards of case management and professional development within the team.
Aimée earned her LLB from the University of Dundee and has spent the past ten years specialising in personal injury litigation. She began her training with Digby Brown before joining Unionline Scotland in 2021, where she continues to build her experience across a wide range of claims.
Lauren Mullen

Lauren Mullen
Lauren is a Solicitor in the Industrial Disease department, where she manages and progresses claims for Union members. She provides clients with clear guidance and dedicated support throughout the legal process, helping them pursue the compensation they are entitled to. Lauren also supervises a trainee solicitor and a paralegal preparing for a future in law, ensuring high standards of professional development within her team.
Lauren qualified as a solicitor in 2018, having trained in the Serious and Catastrophic Injury department at Thompsons Solicitors. During her training, she assisted on high-profile cases in the Court of Session, including the Clutha Air Disaster and the Glasgow Bin Lorry Accident, gaining valuable experience in complex litigation.
Jordan Hamlett

Jordan Hamlett is a Solicitor in the Personal Injury Department, representing Union members and members of the public to secure fair and just compensation for injuries sustained. He provides clients with clear guidance, compassionate support, and strategic legal advice throughout the claims process, helping them navigate often complex personal injury cases with confidence.
Jordan graduated from the University of Strathclyde with a First Class Honours LLB in 2021 and completed his Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Practice in 2022. He qualified as a Solicitor in May 2024 and is currently studying an LLM in Global Environmental Law & Governance, furthering his expertise and commitment to professional development.
Tahirah Yousaf

Tahirah is a Senior Associate in the Personal Injury team, representing both trade union members and private clients across a wide range of personal injury matters. She combines technical legal expertise with a practical, compassionate approach, particularly in managing high-value and complex claims.
Recognising the profound impact an accident can have on clients’ lives, families, and livelihoods, Tahirah works proactively to achieve the best outcomes. She not only pursues compensation but also prioritises timely rehabilitation, facilitating access to medical treatment—sometimes privately—helping clients maximise recovery and return to independence and work as quickly as possible. Her practice is built on a commitment to protecting clients’ interests at every stage of the legal process.
Tahirah holds an Honours degree in Scots Law and a Diploma in Legal Practice, followed by a one-year English Law Conversion Course. She began her legal career as a trainee solicitor in 2007 and qualified in 2009. Tahirah is also a Notary Public and currently serves as a Senior Associate, bringing over 18 years of experience in personal injury law.
